Title data that ships with Picdex

Picdex carries three title dictionaries: anime, light novels, and films and series. Here you can download exactly the files each version of Picdex ships, byte for byte — free, with no account and no other terms.

These files are under their own licences, not under the terms of the store you got Picdex from. Picdex adds no terms and no technical measures to them.

Picdex 0.1.0

These three files are the ones inside Picdex 0.1.0. In the folder Steam installed Picdex to, they are under resources\core\_internal\picdex\assets\, one subfolder each.

anime-offline-database, by the manami project: release 2026-27 (its data last updated on 2026-07-04), unmodified.

RanobeDB database dump, downloaded on 2026-09-24, as Picdex ships it.

This is a derived database. Picdex set these columns to NULL in every row: description and description_ja of public.book, and description of public.release, public.publisher, public.staff, public.series and public.tag. Everything else is as RanobeDB published it. This derived database is made available under the ODbL 1.0 as well.

Wikidata extract: Picdex's extract of film and series titles from Wikidata.

  • File: wikidata-films.jsonl.bz2, 13,150,267 bytes — JSON Lines, one film or series per line, compressed with bzip2.
  • SHA-256: 5b1bf0d4644d9a37645fc8c694fa6000173e97802f196dc68997329f85ece8a2
  • What it holds: for each work, its Wikidata ID and whether it is a film or a series; and, where Wikidata has them, its titles in English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian, its other names, its year, countries, genres and directors, and its IMDb and TMDb identifiers.
  • Source: https://www.wikidata.org, read from its dumps at https://dumps.wikimedia.org/wikidatawiki/entities/
  • Licence: CC0 1.0 (public domain dedication).

Each version's files are listed here, under the first version that shipped them.

How to check a file

A SHA-256 is a fingerprint of a file: if a single byte differs, so does the SHA-256. To check a file in Windows, open Command Prompt and run:

certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256

with the file's path in place of <file>, for example certutil -hashfile "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\wikidata-films.jsonl.bz2" SHA256. The long line of letters and digits it prints must match the SHA-256 above, character for character.

The same command on the copy in the folder Steam installed Picdex to gives the same result: the download and the file in your installation are the same bytes.

Licences

anime-offline-database and RanobeDB are under the Open Database License 1.0, with their individual contents under the Database Contents License 1.0. The Wikidata extract is under CC0 1.0. These licences govern the files, not the terms of the store you got Picdex from: Picdex adds no terms and no technical measures to them, and the copies on this page are free, with no account and no other terms.

Contains information from anime-offline-database and RanobeDB, which is made available here under the Open Database License (ODbL): https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/

Picdex also names these files' sources and licences in THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt, next to Picdex.exe. Questions about these files go to support@picdex.dev.

MangaUpdates

Picdex ships no data from MangaUpdates. Picdex's extended search, off by default, fetches it only on request: once you turn it on (Turn on extended search, in the Network card on the Admin screen), pressing Fill in from MangaUpdates on the page of a manga, manhwa or manhua fills in that one title's missing details from MangaUpdates.
